The afternoon commenced with a tour of the HKIUS training grounds. Delegates were given an overview of the Institute’s role in the industry, followed by a showcase of current survey equipment and tools. This practical session allowed for a comparison of hardware utilization and field practices between Hong Kong and Singapore.
2. Seminar: Utility Surveying & Data Digitalisation
Following the site visit, members and delegates participated in a technical seminar focusing on two critical areas of development:

Technical exchanges focused on methodology selection—specifically the comparative applications of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) versus Electromagnetic (EM) location—and the importance of rigorous accuracy grading.
- Digitalisation of Utility Data: Addressing the future of the industry, the session explored data models, attributes, and metadata standards. A significant portion of the dialogue was dedicated to the integration of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), as well as data governance strategies.
