With the establishment of the IIUS (The International Institute of Utility Specialists) in 2013, its headquarters is now based in Hong Kong SAR where is the international hub for the world.
We are honored to have 5 university Presidents to be our Patrons and 3 members from engineering or science Academy from China and Canada to be our Honorary Presidents. They have been giving great helps for the formation and the growth of IIUS. The IIUS Executive Committee was formed today with Presidents, Vice Presidents from more than 30 districts including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Belgium, Sabah, Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur, India, Taiwan, Macao, Hong Kong and cities from Mainland China including Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, etc. There are many unexpected matters from underground utilities. The successful factors are supports from the Government, the industry, the Academic and the Researchers. IIUS have its international journal with Ir Dr. Peter TSE, Vice President from Hong Kong as the Editor in Chief and to the international standards and we welcome your submissions and subscriptions. In later their year, a new technology on assessing of pipe condition will be announced jointly by the HK CityU and one of the HK based technology firm. The new technology will greater enhance the condition assessment of pipes crossing walls or underground. Underground BIM is headraces for many and IIUS jointly with HKIUS and CIC in HKSAR will be publishing its underground BIM standards. IIUS VP - Ir C.K. Ng, is keen to have the new standard be completed soon. With all the above, I am confident that the new era of utility specialists has come and we joint together will help further improvement the utility specialists for the betterments of our citizens.
